This week I gained a substantial amount of insight into what I want to do for a business idea after I finish and get my degree. As I’ve considered the different kinds of businesses and as I’ve been able to compare and quantify the difference options, between affiliate marketing, drop shipping, and brick and mortar business. I’ve considered the pros and cons of each, and decided that when you’re able to be the middle man in any business model, there is less work, less overhead, less inventory, and less paperwork. I really want to embody this as I start a long term business, but I was able to refine it even further, beyond what we have covered in my course materials so far. I took it upon myself to learn about brokerages and how brokering deals between a consumer and a buy can literally be just as lucrative, without any of the work and physical inventorhy. It’s a similar business model to affiliate marketing if you were having someone else fulfill the orders for you, but with higher priced assets that don’t need shipping, like real estate, or digital information, like time shares etc, you can sell something that doesn’t need shipping, and you don’t have to even own it, You can just CONNECT a buyer and a seller for a percentage of the sale price. AMAZING. And with smaller sales, you can still broker a deal between a seller and a buyer in ANY avenue. Can’t wait to put it to work. I also have been thinking about how valuable it is to research ways to innovate each and every day. If you get lazy, so do your profits. If you wake up each day wanting to learn something and are ACCOUNTABLE for your learning, you will go into a business and succeed more and more each day.
Another Step towards actualizing the future.
This week as I reflected on what exactly it takes for one to be able to manifest their dreams, I gained some insight as to what some of you might be having questions to. Where do I start? What do I need to know that I just don’t know? What are the right steps to take if I’m unsure about which avenues to explore? These are all valid and pressing questions, and i’ve found that it’s much easier than we allow ourselves to believe. There are only two factors that matter or two questions we need to find the answers to, that will send us spiraling upwards towards our relative successes. “What will make me happiest in the long run” and “What is attainable NOW?”. It is a classic two-step, “what do I want”… and “How can I close the distance TODAY”. We don’t always know what we will want in the long run, but as we first, choose a discipline, and figure out which areas will bring us joy… (Do I like talking to people? Is my Carreer path reflecting my talents? etc.) And making, short term, attainable and measurable goals to help make sure we are always taking one step in A direction, even if that direction changes. Indecisiveness is an enemy to success. A decision made is a lottery ticket purchased. Every opportunity explored has the potential to propel you towards your wildest dreams.
The Beginning:
Today marks the beginning of my entrepreneurship journey, and from this point forward I will be cataloging my thoughts and feelings and hopefully my inspiration as I gain insight in my studies. A few things that I’ve learned so far that have really struck a chord within me… You have to dream big as an entreprenuer. You must never give up.. big ideas come and the smartest business minded individuals take those ideas and grow them. You have to be able to accept defeat, and understand that sometimes success is fleeting and things don’t always work out. However, you just have to keep on going, and understand that success is just a numbers game. Eventually, statistically, you WILL succeed. Many of the most successful business owners and free thinkers have touted 10-20 failed business ventures. Those kind of odds don’t seem like the kind of thing easily reconciled, but then again… if you want to succeed, you can’t give up. Ever. I also learned that you have to avoid the path of least resistance if you want to challenge yourself to grow into your potential. This reminds me of a favorite quote that i like to remember that goes something like, “The pathway to your greatest potential is straight through your greatest fear”. I was able to draw a few parallels here. It would seem that true success probably comes through failure, and conquering fears. Someone also said, ” Nothing good ever came easy”, and I think that is so appro- po. If you are uncomfortable, you are probably on your way to growth and progress. If you are comfortable, something should tell you that you need to challenge yourself or you run the risk of becoming complacent, lazy, and you could even get stuck in a rut creatively or otherwise. Successful people know that you need to continually stimulate yourself, or you lose the progress you’ve made.
